Comparison
Buildots alternative for record-driven contractors
What is Buildots actually for?
Buildots is a construction intelligence platform that uses AI to compare what has actually been built on site against the plan, and to surface risks to the programme from that comparison. It integrates BIM, schedule, site data and workforce information.
The core idea is genuinely strong, and it solves a problem self-reported progress cannot. A percentage complete reported by a trade is an opinion. A measurement derived from site capture is not. On a project where progress reporting is contested, that difference is worth a great deal.

How do the two compare?
| Buildots | AI Metric | |
|---|---|---|
| The question it answers | What has physically been built, against what was planned | What was said, agreed, instructed and notified, and when |
| Primary input | Site capture compared against BIM and programme | The messages, photos, voice notes and email your team already produces |
| Requires a model | BIM and a structured programme to compare against | No. Works on projects with no model at all |
| Strongest on | Objective progress measurement and programme risk | Contemporaneous records, notices and the commercial evidence trail |
| Project scale it suits | Large, repeatable, model-led projects | Any project that generates correspondence, including small ones |
| Price transparency | Not published | Not published. Scoped per engagement |
When Buildots is the right choice
- Your projects are large, model-led and repeatable, which is where automated progress comparison performs best.
- Progress reporting is your actual pain. If trades self-report optimistically and you find out late, objective measurement solves something a records layer cannot.
- You already run proper BIM and a maintained programme, so there is something reliable to compare against.
- You need portfolio-level visibility of physical progress across many similar projects.
When we are the better fit
- Your disputes are about what was said and agreed, not about what was built. Those are different evidence problems.
- You run fit-out, refurbishment or smaller works where there is no model to compare against.
- The record you cannot produce is correspondence and instructions, not progress.
- You need the notice and time-bar side handled, which is a contract problem rather than a measurement one.
